According to the latest Harris poll, Sen. Thompson has moved into a second place tie with Sen. John McCain. Mayor Giuliani still leads, though his numbers have moved down in several national polls recently.
Perhaps the biggest news is that Gov. Mitt Romney, the fundraising leader so far, has fallen a full ten points behind Thompson.

"As primary season nears, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani remains atop the ranks of Republican presidential hopefuls. But an as-yet-undeclared candidate, actor and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson, has elbowed his way into the top tier of potential nominees and now rivals Arizona Sen. John McCain in popularity."
